Yup that's ME doing just that last night, rewarding myself like a dog. Woof! Woof! What warranted this reward? A successful day! “I had a great workout this morning, I accomplished a lot at work, I sent out a blog, I set up my workout for the next day, I enjoyed a relaxing soccer game (well relaxing to me) and well damn it, I wanted it.” Oh, all great reasons aren’t they? So yes, I devoured this whole ice cream. More like I was making out with this chocolaty, white-filled goodness, tonguing it like a pup licking peanut butter off a master’s finger.
I surprisingly did not feel the usual guilt that comes along with such an ice cream attack, but I did not feel well either. The ache in my tummy, for the late day treat was not exactly welcomed. It churned inside me like sour milk on a dessert day. I guess the reminder of why I am steering clear of such delicacies came in a physical form this time.
To make up for such indiscretions, I decided to make today a leg day, as I might as well build something positive out of indulging in an ice cream treat. It is true, you cannot outrun your poor diet choices, but instead of saying “I blew it, I’m
forfeiting the gym for the rest of the week and stuffing myself instead”, you can turn any bad mental thoughts or physical ailments around by hitting it hard and letting that treat be just that, A TREAT. You cannot undo the indiscretion you
have done, so don’t bother, don’t beat yourself up, I won’t. Instead be grateful you were able to enjoy something without the mental anguish and learn why you should only be doing this sometimes, not all the time. After all we are all human and we ALL have indiscretions and slip ups sometimes, especially in this glorious weather.
