Every time I go away with my family or get to spend an abundant amount of time with my children, I always get to be a kid again. I get to climb and jump and fish and swim. I get to experience life through their eyes; innocently and lively. I forget about all the evil around me in the world and get to enjoy the innocence of their youth, the giggles in their throat and the dirt that permanently gets laid between their nails. I get to feel their victories (even when they lose) and their wonderment (even at the oddest things).
I get to experience them and their lives because of the life I choose to lead. The foods I choose to eat and the exercise I chose to push my body to is not selfish, it selfless. Actually maybe it is a little selfish because when I push myself and make the right choices for me then I get to be healthy and enjoy being a child with my kids. I get to live another day longer in a place where children belly laugh, ask the most enlightening questions and play with the simplest toys. We get to run, hop, camp, swim and laugh together, one day longer. That is the type of selfish person I am.
Listening to the giggles of children,
Until next time,
Live from the Inside Out,
