This is my last week of NO CARDIO! Yippee! I can’t wait to incorporate cardiovascular exercise back into my exercise routine. It does mean my gym time will probably be extended but I desperately need my cardio back. You may think it’s the placebo affect but it isn’t. Cardio time really does give me that extra perk in the morning. And I know you muscle people are probably thinking, “Then you are not lifting hard enough.” I’m telling you, I AM! This last week alone, I hit some personal bests. I squatted 80 pounds, lunged 70 pounds, I did bench flyes at 25 pounds and shoulder presses at 25 pounds; this is just to name a few. I have been hitting it with all that I have and then giving it another 10 per cent because that’s how I roll. I am in constant competition with myself to see where my limits lie.
But I am definitely missing my cardiovascular sweat; that sweat you get at the end of the workout that has water pouring down your back as if you have just hit the shower. I am missing it like a baby missing his milk bottle. I am a complete
endorphins junkie! I love the feeling I get when I am soaked from head to toe and the euphoric high sets in. It sets me in a great mood, even before most people wake up to start the day. I am not a cardio bunny, whereas I go hours on end running or swinging like a carnival ride on the elliptical but I definitely climb the mountains and get my heart pounding. The only way to get the endorphin high I am looking for is to HIT IT HARD!
Why the lack of cardio if that is where my love lies? Well I know in order to build muscle I must skimp on it or avoid it completely as it’ll be counter-intuitive in trying to build muscle. Even when I do incorporate it next week, it’ll be shorter burst instead of a long drawn out session. I am still looking at building some more and I do not want to ruin that with my need for speed. And although I am looking forward to building more and my endorphin kick, I am doing it with balance and enjoying the process as it happens.
