This morning, my gym is nature. This can be both a blessing and a challenge, especially for someone who is used to routines and knows her way around a gym like nobody's business. The challenge was not within the workout itself, as I had a great body to my workout, but within the warmup. I wanted to wake up my stiff muscles slowly, as I slept on foreign grounds and did not want to injure myself.
My solution: I put on my headphones and cranked some tunes. My idea was to do a light jog up and down my site and around the campgrounds but it was so early that I did not want to wake anyone up and truth be told, I had no desire to leave my site. I was safe within the havens of my domicile and if any weird creature were to come out, I would know exactly where to hide. Once the music really got going, I started feeling it in my soul so what happened next I couldn't control. My feet started grooving and my arms started whaling, my hips started shaking and next thing I knew, I was in an all out dance machine mode. In my head I looked like one of those Dancing with the Stars freaks, but in reality I was probably more like a hyena with a firecracker up my ass as my toddler was giving me a sideways look. Either way, it didn't matter! I was having a blast and loosening up my muscles at the same time. Who knew doing exercise could be this much fun when all you have is some music and your feet? Dance Fever lasted for about 20 minutes before I started a circuit legs workout that left me in a great sweat and set me up for the rest of the day. I ended my workout with a badminton game with my son before the hunger really started to set in. The endorphin kick I got from the dancing and the mood it has put me in, has set me up for a great fun filled day with my troops.
Next time you are in a funk and do not know your up from your down or don't know where to begin, crank some tunes, feel the beat and get your bottom shaking. No one has to see you or know. It'll be our little secret.
