On august 20th, I had the privilege of listening to an amazing woman speak about how to inspire your clients, in turn she inspired me!
Tosca Reno was a name I had heard of a lot in the past few years but it wasn't one I was wholly aware of. Kind of like when you know the pickle jar is in the fridge but don't pay attention to it. It's not as if I don't like pickles, on the contrary, I love pickles, but sometimes when something is there so much, you don't really pay attention to it or give it the respect it deserves.
On that fateful Saturday, I paid attention and gave respect!
For those of you who don't know the story of Tosca Reno, let me give you the brief synopsis that I have been giving everyone that I have come in contact with since listening to those inspiring words coming out of those inspiring lips; all while she bounced around with the energy of my 6 year old rambunctious boy. Energy and confidence that i wish I could squeeze out of her ear and just take a couple of sips out of.
Tosca Reno, in short, is the author of many best selling Eat Clean Diet
books. Be aware; I don't know Tosca Reno, so I am not getting any money to plug any of her books or ways of being - I am just writing about what awesome belief system she has and am spreading the wonderful news.
The inspiring part of this extraordinary woman, isn't the fact that at the age of 40, she decided to muster up he courage to get out of her loveless marriage; nor is it that this once school teacher raised three children on her own; nor is it that she lost a lot of weight. What makes this woman truly great is that she believes in you and then makes you
believe in yourself. She shares the most intimate and raw part of her so that you too can have belief in yourself.
When Tosca realized, at over 204 pounds that her life had to change, she didn't just think "damn I'm fat, it's hopeless, I'm too old, I can't get where I want to be". She looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the person she had become and decided right there and then, she was going to make a change, she was going to like and more importantly love the person staring back.
Tosca started as most people do, by going on the treadmill everyday. she had lost some weight and then things stalled. Instead of getting discouraged, as most people do, she changed her way of thinking, she
decided to eat clean (which in extreme short, is eating simply; pick up one of her books, you wont regret it) and discovering the power of the iron. She picked up her first pair of dumbbells and hasn't looked back. Tosca realized as most people should, it's never to late to re invent yourself and become the person YOU want to become. That personal dark moment was a blessing because it changed her forever.
Have any of you ever had that moment? That moment of complete defeat? That moment when you feel so all alone that even when you are surrounded by an abundance of loving people, you feel lonely? I most definitely have! But as Tosca and I can attest to, there is most definitely a way out and although the ladder may seem long, if you just climb it rung by rung, you WILL make it to the top.
Tosca completely changed her life and her body. As her body
started changing, so did her attitude.
Many times we are hindered by the layers that lie underneath us. The layers of fat is a complete replica of the layers of sorrow that lie within us. The more the layers, the deeper the cuts we have on our souls. We must address the underlying problems and the best way to do this is by getting physically fit. Exercise has so many benefits on our psyche
that many people don't realize. It can help release the feel good hormone - endorphins, clearing your head of depression like thoughts. Excercise will give you confidence to deal with the other issues that may be hindering upon your brain. Lifting that iron will give you the confidence you seek and the approval from the mirror you once thought was impossible to have. Most importantly you will learn the most important person that matters is the person that lies within.
Have courage to become the person you want to be, Tosca and I have faith in
Live from the inside out ;)
