“a pill”. I’ve heard this argument before, many, many, many times but here’s my take on it. How can you be so sure that the “real food” you are eating is actually real? How do you know it hasn’t been srayed the shit out of with some chemicals? Or even if you are eating something healthy, like an apple from an orchard who doesn’t use chemicals on their trees, how do you know the orchard over isn’t using chemicals on their trees which can blow over or be carried over through the soil. Our soil is so chemically laden, so depleted of natural nutrients that we are definitely missing out on something. Here I can start chanting the benefits of eating organic, the taste, the smell, the texture but how many of us can really afford to buy organic? With kids, bills, activities, who can afford to buy all organic all the time?
Here’s a quick trick, if you want to shop organic on a budget, buy anything from the dirty dozen (thin skin fruits and veggies) organic and anything that has a tougher skin non-organic. The dirty dozen fruits and veggies include; apples, celery, bell peppers, cherries, grapes, lettuce, nectarines, peaches, pears, potatoes, spinach and strawberries. Also when you can; research organic meat farms to buy your meats from.
Back to Vitamins! When picking out a vitamin ensure it has less than 5 non-medicinal ingredients in it and ensure you can pronounce those ingredients and know what those ingredients are. If it has more than five non-medicinal ingredients, then the chances are they are just filler and won’t absorb in your blood stream as well. The one big tip I can give you is, DO YOUR RESEARCH! What may be right for me may not be right for you. Speak with a doctor or nutritionist and ensure you are supporting your lifestyle with the appropriate supplements. You never know, it may actually give you the energy you need to chase those kids or prevent the cold you may you can't afford to get.
