morning school drop off. If any of you have ever shopped with a 3 year old then you
know this involves a lot of ducking through isles and putting things back or just saying NO to the endless treats they may see before them.
The grocery store can be a scary place for many, especially when doing a complete overhaul of ones old bad rituals. It is filled with endless isles of goodies and treats, ice creams and pies, sugar laden cereals and white doughy bread. I don't think this is a surprise to anyone as it is all there for anyone to explore. The grocery store
however is also filled with healthy goodness just waiting for you to pick through. Just think of the possibilities; fresh meats and whole grains, strawberries and oranges, avocados and yogurts, the list is endless.
This day I armed myself with a specific list. I had my fruits and veggies, yogurts and breads listed and just went to those specific areas. I veered away from the sugary cereals and stayed far from the frozen section and chip isle. My list guided me to where I needed to go and that is where I stayed. I was on a mission and needed to get in and out within 30 minutes as I was with a toddler and was trying to keep her occupied while I stayed focused. I knew the quicker I was in and out, the quicker I would be able to get on with other parts of my day and the less I had to try and distract said 3 year old.
Did I do it? Yup! Thirty minutes flat but that's because of my list. So when venturing off into the abyss of the supermarket always ensure you don't get swallowed by all of its temptations, by making a list, checking it twice and ensuring you go only to those specific sections. Also make sure you don't go to a new place of grocery greatness as it'll take you 3 times as long to find where everything is and the chances of falling into sugary, salty traps will greatly increase.
Until next time,
Live from the inside out
