Oh yeah! Today is definitely a different day than yesterday. Even dealing with work stress or children sickness and stress is much different. My mood is lifted, my mind is lighter and my demeanour so much more positive. I would like to think, NO, I know my morning workout had everything to do with it.
After yesterday's mood bust because of my lack of a workout, I practically jumped out of bed this morning. I was so excited to get to the gym, I think I flew out the door nearly leaving a trail of water as the lid was barely shut.
Once I got in the gym, I knew what needed to be done. Lift heavy! Whenever I want to feel like a powerhouse, I train my back and biceps. Something about getting those guns rounded and having them pop as you reach for something or graze your hair, is invigorating. It's also fun when the kids say, " WOW! Flex again Mommy, Those are almost as big as daddy's!" Not quite, but it's fun hearing it anyway.
I chose three exercises for my back and biceps and went to town. It was more of a superset between the back and biceps today, lifting 4 sets of 12-15 reps but adding some much needed iron into the mix. I made it a heavy, high rep day. The step mill was my cardio of choice today as I needed to ensure I got a little sweatier to ensure my endorphin rush kicked in and put me in a superb mood, just in case I had to deal with any craziness today. There is no better way to handle craziness than with a smile and good mood. Of course that makes ME look a little crazy but better crazy than grumpy and agitated.
So here I am sitting on a wooden picnic table, in the afternoon, with the sun beating on my face as I write to you in a most splendid mood. Yup, I would think my natural medicine of exercise had everything to do with it.
