those little yellow, packets of sugary-tasting, cancerous filled sweeteners. Eight Weeks!!!! That's insane for me! It really is. If you ask the people that know me best, my husband, my kids, my friends, my coworkers, they all know that is probably what I am known for; asking for those little packets of yellowy, cancer-filled, sugary "delights". I used to carry them around everywhere and used to pull them out at people's homes, at restaurants, at theatre outings, at weddings, oh you name it, and I’ve had them there. Worse than having them with me, I used to add them to EVERYTHING!!!! And when I say everything, I mean everything, plain yogurt, plain cereal, tea, coffee, protein shakes and when I used to bake. I was a bit over the top, but that's me! Either do something all
the way or don't do it at all.
Yes, I know I have a problem with balance, but to my defense, actually I have no defense, I am working on it and have found I am more balanced the last few months than I have been in years. I have been thinking more clearly, I have been able to articulate myself better; I have been able to get my points across when I needed to get them across and I
have had more positive connections because of all the positive and balanced energy I have been throwing out into the world. Interesting how that happens.
I am not a stupid girl; I know what sweeteners can do to you. I know the consequences it has on the body and the brain. Did you know that Sucralose (my sweetener of choice) was discovered while trying to create a new insecticide? INSECTICIDE!!!!
CIDE = DEATH!!!!! A little packet of yellow death! No wonder our genetic makeup is getting all screwed up, we keep adding all this unnatural crap to it. The presence of chlorine is thought to be the most dangerous part of sucralose. Chlorine! You know that shit you use to bleach the pools! Sucralose is a carcinogen and has been used in poisonous gas, disinfectants, pesticides and plastics. So you are basically ingesting bleach, carbon monoxide, rat poison and a coke bottle, not the coke, the actual bottle!!!!
Let's not forget the physical side effects that this particular sweetener has on you; from instant bloating (anyone looking pregnant these days?), skin irritations (rash, hives, redness, itching), wheezing, coughing, runny nose, chest pains, palpitations, anxiety, anger, mood swings and depression!!!! This is all just the tip of the iceberg and only one sweetener that I have looked into, because it was the one I was heavily using.
Were all of my symptoms and ailments due to that yellow packet of poison? Maybe, maybe not all, but it makes sense that ever since I overhauled my eating habits and threw away all that is poisonous to my family and I, that I have been in a better mood,
more tolerable and tolerating of others. Of course it wasn't easy to give up on this packet of death but neither was giving up smoking 13 years ago, or giving up French fries or giving up fake sugar filled chocolate (ok that actually wasn't so hard because my little natural chocolate breaks and my shake are sooooooo yummy). My point is, everything takes work and takes commitment and takes a journey, the question then becomes, how badly do you want it? And who are you doing this for? If you aren't giving up smoking for yourself first and foremost, you WON’T do it, if you aren't giving up crappy food for a healthier, longer life for YOURSELF then you won't do it. I am not saying, don't have reasons, or motivations (your children, the new dress, etc.) but ultimately be sure you are doing this for YOUand YOUalone. It is not selfish, it is being responsible. Being responsible in ensuring that you have a place in this world that you can be happy and surround yourself with what you deserve, a HAPPYand HEALTHY life.
